MASSAGE THERAPY

No two massages are the same. Especially in my practice. I customize each session to the individual needs of my clients within my modalities list. Depending on each client’s requests, I combine as many or all of my modalities to cater to their needs. When you arrive for your session, we’ll chat briefly about your goals, whether or not you’re looking for full body massage; if you have any areas in particular you’d like addressed.

Types of Therapy

Swedish

Generally, Swedish massage is for relaxation & improved circulation, calming the nervous system. Also good for those sensitive to touch, or with general nervous system issues.

Deep Tissue

Excellent choice for chronic tension, muscle spasms, adhesion breakup (we also call it “bubble wrap”, which just means the protective tissue surrounding each muscle & bone.) Ideal for those with chronic tension, less than ideal posture, muscle spasms and muscles that just don’t seem to behave. Regular sessions help to realign muscle tissue, restore proper blood flow, and achieve a greater range of motion in joints.

Pre- and Post- Natal

For the soon-to-be or new Mommy. Reduced back pain & joint pain. Improved circulation. Reduced edema. Reduced muscle tension and headaches. Reduced stress and anxiety. Improved oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles. Better sleep. Releases endorphins to help baby relax too!

Acupressure

I use gentle to firm finger pressure in the pressure points and meridians much like acupuncture does with the use of needles. Good muscular tension releases, circulation of blood is promoted, and the body’s life force energy is enhanced to aid in healing.

Neuro-muscular Therapy (NMT)

I focus on treating the muscular and nervous systems. This medically-oriented form of massage addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems.

Pre & Post Sporting Event

Sports massage uses a variety of approaches to help athletes in training — before, during, or after sports events. promote flexibility and help prevent injuries, helps muscle strains, aiding healing after an injury.

No, in fact many clients just leave their underwear on. Most women remove their bras. It’s about your comfort. I can work around some fabric.

IS IT OKAY TO WORKOUT AFTER A MASSAGE?
We generally recommend to wait at least a day after a therapeutic massage to do heavy lifting or a strenuous workout, as massage induces the natural healing process of the body. Your body deserves the time to heal.

REIKI

and one for them!

REIKI HEALING

Healing energy travels through the entire body, regardless of where the energy is focused.

Reiki is a very specific form of energy healing, in which hands are placed just off the body or lightly touching the body, as in “laying on of hands.” Balancing energy is believed to improve just about any aspect of life, from physical health to emotional well-being to stress reduction and mental clarity. While some practitioners only hover their hands over your body, I perform Reiki with a light touch or hover, and incorporate some acupressure points during my sessions to help clear energetic blockages & stagnant flow. I also incorporate soothing essential oils to help you & myself ground ourselves and connect to the universal energy. Some clients are relaxed to the point of sleep, some become chatty, emotional, experience heaviness or lightness in their extremities, etc. Every client’s experience is different, which is why I love this work so much. During each session, my intuition guides me to where the energy is needed, although Reiki is systemic and goes where it’s needed regardless where I focus my intention on healing.

I sometimes use crystals/stones and draw symbols over energy centers to amplify the energy exchange, but if none are used, the work will still be effective. Some clients report they experience effects days to weeks after their sessions.

How often should one receive healing?

One of the points of this work is to help the physical body & mind connect with the energetic body & mind and intuition. Let your intuition lead you to seek your healing. Some clients receive weekly, some monthly, some quarterly.

Reiki can be done without touch & fully clothed if you prefer. Many of my clients add 30 minutes of Reiki onto their massage sessions for an even greater therapeutic experience. Sometimes, I like to incorporate acupressure points in my sessions to help aid energy blockages throughout the body, but the touch is generally gentle. That can be omitted at your request.

WHAT EXACTLY IS REIKI?
Reiki is beneficial for all things & is a balancing of our energies to help achieve our highest self. There are 7 major energy centers that affect their region of the body. Balancing the energies in these centers help prevent illness, increase health & overall wellness, and improved awareness of oneself. No religion or belief system necessary. Just an open mind. More & more studies show the incorporation of Reiki in western medicine techniques has greatly improved healing across many boards.

IS REIKI A MASSAGE?
No, Reiki is energy work that in simpler terms focuses on relaxing the body to induce our natural healing process. Similar to meditation, when the mind & body can rest, our nervous system starts it’s repair process. Many clients add on 30 minutes of Reiki to their 60 minute massages for the ultimate in healing & relaxation.
